Default Trekking to Bimtang from Annapurna Circuit

    Hello,

I am curious about doing the Manaslu Circuit clockwise, but only going up the the area around Bimtang. Does anyone have experience going this direction? Are there enough Teahouses to make the trip in this way? What would be the logical stopover points (between Dharapani and Bimtang)?

    Thanks!

You need a restricted area permit for Manaslu and a guide to pass the checkpoint at Dharapani. Not worth it just to go to Bimtang. Generally the pass is steeper from the west and without same services as the east side, so spending the time to acclimatize (if planning to go all the way across) is problematic. Some people have done it, and at least one ended up to be carried over the pass by the guide.

Yes, It is steeper from Bimtang to the pass than from Dharmashala or Samdo but I am sure that if you are reasonably fit and have some experience of trekking before then it is not a big deal. The places are Tilche, Goa, Surke Khola between Dharapani and Bimtang, there are lodges. And you have to go through registered guide/company as this is restricted area.
