Wow awesome adventure!
I did Mustang in November. Properly prepared the camping tea house is not unbearable. The elevation is not that high. Around noon strong winds whip up through but they die off every evening around 7...
I can't recall the name but there are a few lodges about 15 minutes out of Tengboche. I stayed there on few days on a couple of occassions. It is a 15 minute walk into tengboche for all the fun,...
I have been to Nepal 6 times. The last two trips I took Dukarol. I think it is a wise precaution. Have a wonderful time.
Not sure what to say to this thread. How did everyone get to be so old?
And life evolves. many of the websites I used religously back in the late 90's early 2000 have met their demise. I spent a lot of time getting valuble information, meeting new friends and learning....
Larkya la is not exposed at all. Much gentler pass than Cho la or kongma la. I don't like exposure either. Manaslu is a fabulous trek. I would do it again and very rarely repeat trips.
I trekked in that area may 2004. It is a lovely area and from what I hear still not visited much. Some fascinating Villages and easy access from kathmandu.
You will be able to rent gear. You will not need a sleeping bag. A silk sleep sack is all you need to carry as the huttes all have down duvets and pillows. The best thing to do is to joing one of the...
There is so much terrain out there to explore. I would lke to go to Dolpa but you can't really compare Mustang. It is such a unique experience. Manaslu is more of a true Himalaya experience. I just...
Manaslu is the only trek I would repeat out of the 7 treks I have done.
For me namchee to Lukla flies by. It is a headspace thing.
Rustic in 2004. I am sure there would be lodges now. I was out in the Ganesh Himal for 2 weeks. Never saw another foreigner in that time. Close to Sybaru Bensi I am sure you could manage. Further out...
Up behind Sybaru Bensi is Chaurhattar, Gatlang, Gothen and the Chorten trail. Some fascinating Villages and much less touristy although I expect busier than when I went in 2004.
I carry a pair of fleece and shirt that I wear up higher after the trekking day. Down lower I have 2 pairs of light weight pants. One is always washed and hung dry. That clean one is worn after...
It's sad but Nepal seems destined to failure. The culture of surviving by putting bribes on top of bribes has obliterated the concept of earning money for providing an actual service with the person...
Sounds fabulous! Thanks for the post.
Do you have a good sleeping pad? that helps.
Why from the Jomsom ATM? Course I used it...Not for much though..
I got very competitive rates in Namchee Bazaar and Jomsom. I mostly use my bank card to withdraw rupees but have some travelers checks as back up. I did run into a problem once in Kathmandu where the...
I have been to Zion and Bryce a few timesa. I rate those trails as very groomed compared to Nepal.
Lars trail photos are very representative there is some smooth but that is irrelavent for your...
The trails are very uneven. In some areas such as the Annapurna there are really thousands of stone steps. The most even trail area I have been to is Mustang. It is not conventional in terms of...
I stay at the Hotel Norbu Linka. It is on a quiet dead end road and onthe outskirts of Thamel. Wonderful staff and comfortable rooms.
I do not like the Kathmandu Guest house. Very large and big turn...

I always get a massage the night I arrive back in Thailand after my trek
They are awesome.
