Hi Maria,

maybe you have seen my posting below. I will be in the area as well from around 7/8 Dec to early Jan.
To one of your questions: I dont think everything will be overbooked or busy. I think it will be very quiet on the trek. It is very unlikely that there are many if any companies that offer treks over the Cho La in December. I want to cross it as well and from all I ve read here and in other forums, it IS possible, but might be tricky and very much depends on the weather... On the other hand you will probably always find private guides and porters who will go everywhere you want as long as you pay them...

I dont really want to go with Guide and Porter but a small group would be good. So far not many ppl seem to want to go there in that part of year. So maybe we meet up...

Bye
Daniel

Daniel!

Are you planning to trek with your relatives, this time too?? I am just curious. Yes! Cho-La is the challenging part of this trek especially in December but it fully depends on weather. I am scared may be you are same Daniel (Australian) or not, who trekked in Annpurna??!!

Most people do Cho La in May when there is less snow. You may have to break trail in December. You will need an ice axe and crampons and know how to use them. People have been killed by avalanches in that region.

Experience Nepal...
