Here's some interesting news for Australians;

Quite a few people have sought out travel insurance to cover trekking peaks or other high(er) altitude activities but I wonder if anyone has considered their life insurance in this manner (it's never really crossed my mind). As with "normal" travel insurance, most life insurance / income protection insurances etc have a "dangerous activities" clause.

Obvious this isn't an issue for the vast majority of people but I'll throw the info up just incase someone is looking one day.

(I am note affiliated with any of the clubs, companies or organisations in any way, just trying to help)

Life Insurance cover without mountaineering exemptions!

The New Zealand Alpine Club is delighted to announce that we have

Planning PTY Limited and is underwritten by ING Pty Limited. ING
Financial Planning is a division of ING Australia, which is part of
the ING Group, one of the world's largest financial services
companies.

ING Financial Planning will offer Life Insurance on a case by case

smoker status, health, pastimes, etc.

This unique member benefit is restricted to Australia and is an
exciting development - taking out concerns many have with our
activity of choice. The New Zealand Alpine Club will receive a
referral fee for each policy purchased by our Australian members

When I signed up for life insurance I had to fill in a special mountaineering form, and of course my premiums are higher than usual. But it's comforting to have. I also get an additional cover through being part of an alpine club. Certainly something to think about.
