Hey people,

Just a quick question - how much access to computers / the internet is there along treks and Chitwan park? Do pretty much all villages / lodges / teahouses have access? Or only in main areas like Namche Bazaar? Or none at all?

If so, how much does it cost?

it's not that I cant leave a computer alone, even on my travels - I just want to know how much access there is...!

Thanks

I am sure others will be able to explain more but I will offer my two cents. I did a EBC trek from Jiri and only found internet in Namche and Lukla. I won't doubt that you could find it in other places but it would probably be pretty expensive. I don't quite remember the cost at Namche or Lukla but I do remember thinking it wasn't worth it. As for KTM, it is very cheap.

Happy Trekking!!!

There are few internet cafes in Sauraha. If I remember correctly the cost is 60 nrp/h.
On AC there is internet in Chame (1.000nrp/h) and Manang (1.500nrp/h). I am not sure but I think I even saw internet in Thorung Phedi BC in Oct.2007 (I have not stayed there therefore I dont know the price. Also internet cafe in Manang was closed at that time.)
On EBC there is internet acces in Lukla, Namche and Tengboche. In Namche and Tengboche it costs 10nrp/min.
In KTM it costs 30nrp/h in most places in Thamel, outside even less.
Just a remark: prices in Nepal went up in 2007 considerably partly due to good tourist season, partly because of USD plunge. I would not be surprised to find higher prices in 2008.
