View Full Version : EBC or Gokyo

There are some who seem to do it in a very short time but it not practical or advisable. Things do go wrong--weather and acclimatisation in particular. 14 days is ample for Gokyo but just a little short for EBC as well. If you are flexible give yourself two or three days more and it is possible(if everything goes well)
The debate about the merits of Gokyo and EBC involve issues more than views. As Daniel mentioned Gokyo is a nicer place than Kala Pattar to stay in . It is definately better than Lobuche which is a bit of a hole. BUT the view from Kala Pattar is special because you are right in front of BIG views.Gokyo is prettier: Kala Patar more spectacular. They are different.
Having said that things like weather etc will obviously affect your response.
One alternative you have is spend less time in Kathmandu and more time in the Khumbu. A week is too long unless you have other plans.
Enjoy

I did both last year and I advise you; do both. If you can affort 2 days extra it should be doable. and what is 2 days !!!
Just spend less time in Kathmandu, but make sure you send enough time in the Himalaya Area.

Dear paul, Namaste & Hearty Greetings !
It is our pleasure to know you would like to visit our country and as well as like to do EBC trek.
As per your message, It is advvaisable to do both first Gokyo- ri then pass chola and everest base camp, Last year my friend did that. Hoever it depends on weather which month are you coming. It is possible but you need to work little bit hard. because you will walk in hight altitude area, also ther is pass.. So it is strongly suggested to hiring a Guide, or Porter cum guide.
I suggest you for this , make your schedule take flight so you can arrive on morning time in kathmandu, whole day trek preparation next day..flight to Lukal, to make arrangement all of this you need to contact with trekking / travel agency.. So that if you want you may contact us. Following address:
