Hi there,

I (21 year old medical student, Holland) will visit Nepal for the first time in May. I am planning to do the Annapurna Circuit trek, including Thorung La.
Are there any special issues concerning this trek or specific precautions to be taken? I was just wondering if anyone who has done this trek before could tell me what it is like. I read it is a very diverse trekking. Thanks!

Greetings,
Tim

Namaste Tim
I did the Annapurna circuit in Oct 1996. It is a wonderful adventure and the terrain is very diverse. If you would like to read a daily account of our trek it is on the web at http://www.geocities.com/woodman_j
I also would highly reccommend our guide.

I think one of the main things to be aware of, especially to young people as you, is to go up slowly to avoid getting Acute mountain sickness. Because you are young you have the endurance to walk faster but this can get you in trouble at alltitude. but as a medical student you probably know that.
good luck and happy travelling.
