I should be in Nepal doing the AC and maybe the AS between November and December, 2002. I would love to complete my trip by giving back to the community/country by volunteering for some association or business for approximately a week. I am particularly interested in the issue of recycling although I am open to volunteering in other areasl. I am looking for suggestions and recommendations of charitable/environmental organizations that have a good reputation in Nepal and which might be interested in some additional help.

I read your message in trek info and would like to inform you that me and my friends who work in the field of trekking in Nepal united to help the educational programme mainly in the northern village of Kathmandu and we provide some percentage of the money for that programme.
In this way trek with us is not only business and it helps the children of rural area for their education.

Hello, that is so cool you wish to help these wonderful Nepalese people. If you are in Pohkara go to the Butterfly Lodge and talk to Govinda the owner. He will link you up with my friend Doug who runs www.childwelfarescheme.org a wonderful organization dedicated to building hospitals and medical facilities for the hill folk. Punch up this website and get a preview on their program. If you like to trek you will be able to combine your love of trekking and volunteer work as most the medical facilities are far away from cities.

I have read your message for Judith,where she was asking about the voluntary position.I tried to open the web site you have recommended to her,but it wouldnīt work.Didnīt you make some mistake while spelling it?
We are two students of medicine interested in doing some voluntary work.Do you have any experience or advice?
