Michael -

I just returned from Nepal and did take the bus to Pokhara. This was before the firebombing, but the Army was stopping all busses and checking the locals on the bus. The tourists were left alone and not bothered on the bus or at the airports. My friend who is just leaving the country today said that it was a good time to be leaving. He was trekking from Jomsom to Pokhara and did see quit an increase of Army personnel. Kathmandu was stangely scarce of people and an increase of Army personnel there as well. Things are getting worse at a very rapid pace.

Hey everybody,
I am here in KTM and have been keeping up with the latest, actually that is how I found this site by searching for more news about here. The bus that was fire bombed was in the Chitwan area, and like Daniel said it was because it was out during one of the strike days. There were some people killed in that incident. I will not lie to you, there have been bombs here in KTM, but if you just watch where you are going and be wise about where you go, you should be ok. I have traveled outside of the valley and there are many check points on the roads. As of now, I would say if you are planning on coming here, do it. It rained here on Monday and that evening the mountains were beautiful with the snow on them. If any of you would like to know more, or have any more concerns about safety here, please let me know and I can keep you informed.
