To all the people who encouraged myself and my wife to go to Nepal, we would like to say THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was an awsome trip.
We were there the month of December and we hiked the Annaprnna Round. The weather was perfect and we crossed the Thorung La Pass December 13th. There truly is less air at 5416 meters.
We had no problem with the weather, the pass was clear. The following day was different so we heard from other trekkers behind us. They had much snow.
We made wonderful friends in Nepal and we want to keep in touch with them. We know how to email them, but we have not figured out how to send a present to them. We would like to send some money, but we do not know if a check would be something they could cash. The money system seems very primitive and I am not sure if a check would be of something they could cash. Possibly a cashiers check would be better. Is there someone out there that can give me some advice as to how sending money would be done?
If anyone has any fears of traveling to Nepal I would highly recomend putting your fears aside and going. The people are marvelous and the Maoist situation does not seem to be a factor. We had no encounter with anything that made us have concern for our safety. Actually I felt safer than I have in any other country I have been to including my own. Unless things change drasticly I personally feel there is no threat to visitors.
Once again thank all who encouraged us to go.
