Everest trek April

Hi

My husband and I will be going to Nepal for the first time in April. We plan on trekking from Jiri to Kala Patar. I have read that this takes around 15-22days. Can anyone who has been confirm this? A major concern of mine is AMS so we do need to build in plenty of acclimitisation days...oh and do you know how long does the drive from Kathmandu to Jiri take?
Do we need to bring our sleeping bags or are quality (warm) sleeping bags available for rent from Kathmandu? What is the temperature in April ( i have read -3 to 19 C )? Is it possible to trek independently and stay in teahouses/lodges along the way - how regular are these? Is it possible to do this independently ? We are visitng Nepal as part of an extended travel so we will have rather large rucksacks- where is the best place to store these safely????
Finally does anyone know how the conditions of the route from Sanauli (border crossing point from India) to Kathmandu? Is it relatively safe? How long etc...?

Hi Jill
Road from Sunauli to Kathmandu is very good and normally takes 10/12 hrs but due to security checks enroute it may sometime take upto 16 hrs.
Kathmandu to Jiri 8/10 hrs ,above condition apply.
Yes you and your husband can do the trek independently within 16/22 days but Lukla onwards you have to slow down a bit,since you are walking from Jiri by the time you arrive Tengbochey you should be well acclimatised .Since it is your first time I advise you to take a guide and porter or a guide or porter,it will make things much easier and trek more enjoyable.Temperature -8 to 25 Lukla onwards, 5 to 28/30*C Jiri onwards on clear days.
Warm clothing...you can hire a good quality down Jacket/sleeping bag in Kathmandu for a reasonable price 1/2 USD per day.Extra baggage...some good hotels/guest houses in Kathmandu have storage facility for no extra cost or you can leave it in our house.

Nice to hear from you about trek in april to everest reagion.from kathmandu to jiri drive is take by local bus about 8/9 hours,quite long drive.if you will go to gokkyo and kalapather both side it will be take about three weeks,.you need warm sleeping bag yourself,you can get in kathmandu also for the rent.if you want to know any informations and help contact on this address.
