is a guide or porter assistance obligatory?

hello,

We (3 persons) go Nepal in October and want to do EBC trek.

I have a question: is it still obligatory to hire a guide for the trek (I heard it was last year).


I am very sorry if this is not the first time that you see this kind of question - if there is a planty of answers concerning that matter - please disclose me where they are.

The TRC regulations have been suspended (since late last calendar year) so there is no requirement to hire an authorised agency's staff in order to have the agency issue the TRC. That said recently I have seen reference to reintroducing similar regulations but no timetable.
