dear Samara, i wish , that your new passórt will be soon with you. Both India and nepal a beautiful countrys and I went back several times in both of them. Bbut I must admit, that Nepal touched more my soul, its pretty dangerous to go there, you may come back and back for the rest of your life( 14 x just for me). Dont be afraid of the cold, it mainly depends whrer you will stay and as i wrote there are plenty of warm and cheep clothes.
I would not go to the hight treks E.G. Everest, upper jomsom or Manang. Helambu could be fine. For the first time I would go in this season south of the Annapurnas, through the villages of Landrung, Gandrung (have a look to nicks lodge), Gorepani. If you allow yourself about a week, even when i could be done in 4 days, you will have no problems with your fitness but be very strong at the end. This would enable you to to get a deeper feeling for the wonderful nepali people. you could have a little look to some of my pictures at www.nepal-dia.de, i just have made a little english version for the pictures. Still there is plenty to see in the Kathmandu valley, great relaxing in Pokhara and Chitwan national park is great an somewhat warmer.
Buget: Nepal is a very cheap country, the only problem is that there a soma ny nice things to buy and so many tasty pies waitung for you that temptation is enormous.
Count 15-30 US $ for al your warm clothes, 7 $ for renting a downjacket a week if you go trekking and a average of 8 -15 US $ per day if you go low budget. Transport is very cheap. Visa will be 30 $ ans airport tax another 15 $.
Have a nice time
