Finally my fourth sojourn to Nepal has started. As I anticipated, all the hysteria and breasbeating of the foreign governments (especially Western, particularly the American) is just that, plain and unsubstantiated hysteria. Nepal for the major treking areas is as safe as it ever was. Kathmandu has the same feel as last year: dirty, pluted, and amazingly fascinating. Will send other postings from Pokhara and Sauraha (Chitwan).
In the meantime Happy Yakshaving to everyone!

Hi Danil and others :
I and my frinds finally decide to go Nepal on 12/30. We planned to go jamsom trek route to poon hill and then returns to Pohkara. Any suggestions of where to hire an porter ( at pokhara ) and anything we need to take care in Jan ?
thanks all , and happy trekking :-)

Why ponder and mull about this nonsense? Just do it or stay at home and get mugged or hit by a drunk driver.
Not ONE foreginer has ever been killed by a Maoist. In Madrid 6 people are murderered DAILY. In New York, about 20. In Los Angeles more. Forget about your self importance. If you die on the Lonely planet gringo trail - the chances are much less than from your everyday life in oppulent cities. Drop your damn cuppacinos, lattes and head for the hills. Unless you are a flagrant, American yahoo biggot - your chance of being murdered by a Maoist and plastered on the front page of OUTSIDE magazine are less than winning the California lottery.
