Hi all you friendly Nepal lovers,

I believe we must purchase trekking permits for the Jomsom area treks with a photo being required for this. Does this need to be as for a passport photo or is the standard more liberal?

Jason

P.S. just as yakshaving is becoming popular, so too is Koala shaving in the summer months in South Australia, in particular on Kangaroo Island where it is thought to be most humane given the conditions in the summer.

yes indeed you need an "entry permit" by ACAP wich is nearly the same as before the Trekking permit. You can get it easely in Kathmandu/Thamel or Jomson without long waiting.
a friend of mine just gave a copy of her black and white passport foto, and it was accepted with no problems.
Maybe you just try it. Otherwise there are plenty of instant photoshops around, so you always will have quickly a real one.
Once I have had several passport fotos done in kathmandu, they look so horrible, that still all my friends start to lough if the see one.
Have a great time trekking. You can look already to some pictures of Annapurnaregion in my website www.nepal-dia.de
