Hi Eric
You will already have recieved an e mail from me so I am writing this more for other folk who are planning a visit to Nepal.
It is a bit of a responsability advising people on wether to come to Nepal or not, People will inevitably make up their own minds so here are the things to consider.
There has been no change regarding safety for tourists since the outbreak of further violence in Nepal.
The Mao have never targeted tourists to date;;
There have been no reports to my knowledge of any problems on the major trekking routes regarding tourists,
As someone who has virtually adopted Nepal I have many discussions with friends and collegues re the situation and I think the edge is towards the feeling that if the recent outbtreak of violence cannot be controlled and brought back to the talking table life will slowly get worse before it can get better but in the meantime life goes on as usual,
I personally have no fears for my safety when on trek and would be off somewhere tommorow if I did not have to stay around this crazy machine,
Hope tis helps and if there are any major developments I will keep folk posted.
See you on the 4th,,,please remember your weight allowance on your international flight,,so I suggest you go for the lightweight bullet proof jacket available in most adventure stores.
Cheers Nick.
