I’m looking for a companion or two to walk the Annapurna Circuit, beginning in late July (I should be in Kathmandu by July 25 and I fly out on August 20). I’m a friendly 40-year-old Australian guy who’s been working as volunteer teacher (with VSO) in a Tibetan area of Gansu, China. I’m fairly flexible and could go with or without a porter. Ideally, I wouldn’t walk the AC during the monsoon but unfortunately I don’t really have a choice.

Hi
Thanks for the reply
About the guide? I don't know. I think it's impossible to get lost on the Annapurna Circuit (apparently) but a guide could be useful in other ways. I'm certainly flexible about it. What do you think?

Hi again,
You guys will have some interesting stories to tell about India and Iran/Pakistan.
Cocoblue, I’m a little worried about your arrival date because I have a flight to get on the 20th. I’d probably prefer to leave earlier but I guess if we begin on the 2nd then we could finish on the 18th. That might be pushing it although there’s always the option of a flight from Jomsom.

Hello Patrick and Cocobleu08,

I will go direct from Pakistan via the KKW (Karakoram High Way) to China and Tibet. After that I have to go to Vietnam were I will meet my girlfriend. It is to expencive for me to fly from Islamabad to Katmandu and then from Katmandu to Ho Shi Min City. I hope you understand it and that you have time tol find an other person to travel with.
best regards
Robbert

The monsoon is an ideal time to do the AC. The itinerary is mostly in the two great trans-himalayan valleys of Marsiangdy and Kali Gandaki, mostly sheltered from the worst effects of the monsoon (kept in the "monsoon shadow") by the massives of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. Appart from the first three days form Besi to about Dharapani, which can be hot and wet - the rest of the trip is fantastic. The weather is much milder at higher altitudes, and the high mountain valleys are green, peppered with beautiful flowers. Villages are full of life etc. You'll enjoy this much more than an October or November trip.
I did it last year in July. Will be again in the area, but a couple of weeks before you...

Why? The monsoon is a splendid time. I have been hiking four times in August and July in the area. Just get up into rain shadow fast and you will have a splendid time.

Thanks for those last two posts. It's good to know and I'm looking forward to it even more now!
