Just have a look below in the board to the question of Tracy, whats the best annpurna trek, I wrote allready about the two treks.. Definitively, Jomosom ist more interesting from a cultural point of view. The combination of the two treks would be realy fantastic. It is worth considering to fly in to Jomson and to use the extra days for the beautiful villages of Kagbeni, Jharkot, Muktinath and Dzong.
If you are on the way to Annapurna sanctuary there is the beautiful village Gandrung, with two old parts. Both are away from the main trekking trail, so you should ask people to find them, its definitively worth. Snowland lodge just near the old part is part of Nicks project, and could be a name to head for.
Chomrong is another big Gurung village. Most people stay in the upper part, where there are many "palace"like big lodges. Quiet a few a known for excellent food. i prefer staying direcly near the village. Its another 10 min steep going down the staicases from the upper part. As again, the trails passes the village on the side, its a wonderfull experience, just to walk through the village. I always meet a lot of children and had great times.
You can have an Idea of the villages looking at my pictures n www.nepal-dia.de
Have a nice trek andrées
