Hi: I have decided to do a moderate 20-day trekking since I am a little concerned about high altitude, I will stay below 4,200 meters. I am a 54 year old female, obviously active! :):) :) I do not rush from one point to the others but take my time to enjoy the beauty of the country, people and nature. If anyone is interested in joining me that would be great.:))
Also, who can recommend insurance for these kind of trips. Do you buy it in Nepal or the USA?

This is my trek:
ANNAPURNA SANCTUARY TREK + GHOREPANI JOMSOM TREK
GRADE:MODERATE starting May 7 until May 26.

Hi

You must get your insurance in the USA. If you buy insurance in Nepal and you need to make a claim you will have great difficulty processing it in Nepal because of the language problem, etc.,

Should be an interesting trip though and you will need your waterproofs if it rains!!

You need to bear in mind that ther is a road now, not a footpath, in the Kali Gandaki valley. You might wish to go out to Birethanti from Ghorepani rather than going up to Jomosom. Alternatively, assuming you have started from Phedi and walked to ABC and then Ghorepani, then you could go to Lumle from Birethanti and then get a taxi to Pokhara or you could walk back to Pokhara along the old walking route.

Hi,

it's news to me that the road is going all the way to Jomsom yet. I know it's planned for years already but progress is very slow. So I thought the road is going as far as Beni (maybe a little beyond) and anything upriver of the Kali Gandaki is still being done by foot. So trekking from Ghorepani to Jomson shouldn't be a problem or am I totally wrong?
