I've got a few pics from my reccent trip and I thought that as I process them I would post a couple here. To make things interesting I'll ask you guys to guess the location of the photos.
Here's a start:
A few of you will know Oli from around here, well I managed to catch up with him in KTM and his latest interest is slacklining (sorta like tightrope walking), here's a pic of him getting some practice, can you name the famous location?

No takers? Ok so it wasn't Oli (not sure if you picked up on that, it's really a monkey).
Just for reference the location was Pashupatinath.
Here's a few others that I quite like:

Hi Spaceman:
Thanks for posting the pictures. Looks like you made it back home safely. I read your other thread about the misfortunes you had and hope that everything is ok now.
To your pictures:
First one is Ama Dablam from the Everest View Hotel.
Second one I think is that big stone at the top of Namche on the trail towards Sanasa/Tengboche. I have a picture of it somewhere as well.
Third one I don't know.

Yes, the small temple outside the main shrine. I can add that the "obsene" carvings are said by the prude Nepalese to be there in order to frighten off lightning. It is supposed to find the erotic figures so horrid that it will strike elsewhere.

Andrew: Spot on, although the second one is actually over above the Gompa on the other side of Namche - close enough though.
Per: Sounds like a decent excuse to me to put up erotic carvings, I might try that at home, we do get a fair bit of lightning around here :D

Have some trouble locating the other two photos... (appart from Ama Dablam an the coloured carvings...).
Why does that cow look like a donkey?

He is a weird looking guy isn't he, I just liked his big horns and the "Ren and Stimpy" type head on him :)
The 3rd pic is a bit tricky, the long buildings up in the top left hand corner with the trees (and river) behind them are a bit of a clue. Actually it's surprising that there are no cows in that picture too ;) I just posted that one cause I like the way that some of the birds were captured.

The third photo looks like Trafalgar Square in London, which is always covered in pigeons, but I cant see Nelson anywhere so it cant be there, ermm, I give up, ;) Maybe Escher knows, he has been a bit quiet lately, busy doing something out and about I expect.
Hmmm, the Yak look alike donkey does look a bit odd doesnt he, or is it she, maybe because he only has one ear? He didnt hear you ask him to pose for the photo, so decided to look like that just in case! Ah, cute tho. :)

Hm, Ren and Stimpy... The characters who inspired me to take up yakshaving... I owe them a lot...

This looks close. Did you use a tele lense or did you climb it?

Nah just a small digital camera coming down from the Kongma La. I highly recommend that route on the normal Everest trek.
Outstanding views of Makalu and Ama Dablam. This is the view from the glacier looking up to the Kongma La....

Little digital or not, that is a really nice picture of Ama Dablam. I too thought it was from much closer. I guess I could have gotten a similar picture but during the monsoon, the views are not always there. My guide kept saying, "If there were no clouds, you could see .... right there" Great picture.

That's a really interesting angle that you don't see to often, it's still easily identifiable as Ama Dablam though.
The third pic was taken down by Pashupatinath, the river is just on the other side of the buildings in the top corner with all of the trees.
Here's an easy question: What do the following 2 pictures have in common?

Let me guess.... The word Nepal? Or perhaps the word Royal, taken out with liquid paper...
Hm... maybe there's something more sublte. I have never had enough attention to detail for subtle stuff. Gime the obvious. This is why my wife, when she wants me to do something, has give up on the hope I will ever get subtle hints, and learn how to be intuitive, how to "really communicate" (whatever that means...). She sits me down, takes both my hands into hers, looks into my eyes, and beginns to spell things out sloooowwwwllleeeeee and cleeeeaaaarrrrrlllleeeeee. It usually works. If I still have a blank look in my eyes (it still happens, she says, despite her best efforts), she hits or kicks me hard in various parts of my body (This is called, she tells me, using multiple media for communicating a message). I usually snap to attention and "get it", all of a sudden. This improved communication has really worked wonders in the last couple of years of our 26 year marriage. We're both happy with the outcome.
I suggest it to every woman. Women don't know how to communicate to men. My wife was included in this sorry category until recently, when she fortunately saw the error in her ways. Women expect to "communicate" WITH men. For men to "get hints" and "subtleties" , stuff like that... How dumb of them (of women I mean...). They must learn to communicate to TO men, in very clear and unambiguous ways. Tell men clearly and slowly what you want, from the bedroom to the shopping mall. Nothing works simpler.
Sorry for the diatribe. The missing words in the pics, relating to communication of course, drove me to it (again. the subtleties, if any, may fly past me....).

Yakshaver, that sounds just like someone I know, now I understand that they are not physcic and cannot read my mind, its quite disturbing, when all this time I thought they could, I thought all men had that ability!!

I dont know, is it so obvious that we are looking for something more than there is, if you know what i mean. They want you to take Notice tho dont they! !! !!!

Yep, my point was the missing "Royal". There are signs everywhere that have been amended in various fashions ranging from decent repainting through to just crossing out the "royal" with a marker pen.
