My wife and I are planning a trip to nepal in November this year and cant decide between a 12-14 day trek to Annapurna Base camp or a 14-16 trek to Everest base camp. Can anyone give me an idea of the pros and cons of each? I figured that Annapurna may be more scenic but Everest obviously has more appeal because its Everest and we are right amongst the mountains.

Just how much of a problem are the Lukla flights?!

Any advice would be fantastic!

Thanks!

First, unless you decide to spend some extra time in some of the Gurung villages on the lower part or the ABC, this trek only takes about 9-10 days.
Compared to the EBC wich takes 14 or so. And Gokyo (a nice alternative to the EBC), wich is about 12 or 13 days.

All are absolutely fabulous in terms of views. The views form Gokyo and those of from the ABC are fantastic and comparable. Evern better (best in fact) are the views form beyond the fifth lake on the Gokyo valley, a place named variously either Nobby's Knoll, or Scoundrel's Point or some such.
If it is your first trip to Nepal, I suggest Gokyo, but ABC is just as nice.

Lukla flights in November should not be much of problmem. Just make sure you have an extra day up your sleeve on the way back, in case of weather issues.
Also, it is best to book a bit later than you intend to fly, and then if you arrive earlier sometimes you can call from Namche and change, or just turn up in Lukla and usually you fly the next day. Just need to be a bit flexible and not too stressed there. You may have to wait a day or two, but not usually. Of my three trips there I had to wait a day in Lukla only once.
