ITINARARY:
DAY 01 KATHMANDU (1300) - ZHANGMU (2,500M)/NYALAM (3700M):
123 KM/156 KM.
Early morning scenic drive to KODARI (Nepal - Tibet border) through
the beautiful Nepalese countryside and after necessary border
formalities both at Nepalese & Chinese immigration, continue drive to
NYALAM and check-in to hotel. Overnight at hotel/guest house.
DAY 02 ZHANGMU/NYALAM - TINGRI (4,350M): 244 KM
Day drive uphill to the highest plateau of the world with the typical
view of Tibetan landscape offering sheer feeling of standing on the
roof of the world crossing over LALUNGLA (5,050 M), weather permitting
with a breathtaking panorama of beautiful Himalayan ranges including
MT. EVEREST (8,848 m) but dwarfed by the vastness of the Tibetan
plateau. Overnight at guest house.
DAY 03 TINGRI - RONBUK (APROX. 120 KM/3-4 HRS)
Scenic dirve to stop point near and take a bus of the Everest
Conservation to RONBUK - Ronbuk Guest House - Visit RONBUK MONASTERY
(highest monastery at 4980 M)
DAY 04 RONBUK - EVEREST BC - LHATSE (215 KM)(4-5 HRS)
AM: Rent a horse cart or walk to EVEREST BC and explore EBC - back to
RONBUK - Drive onward to LHATSE by crossing over GYATCHU LA (5,220 M),
the highest pass en route to LHASA - Guest House.
DAY 05 LHATSE - XIGATSE (3,900M): 174 KM
Continue drive to XIGATSE with a possibility of encountering Tibetan
nomads on the way looking after their animals like yaks & sheep.
Overnight at hotel.
DAY 06 XIGATSE - GYANTSE (3,950M): 90 KM
Morning sightseeing to the PANCHEN LAMA'S TASHILHUMPU MONASTERY. Drive to GYANTSE and visit to the KUMBUM STUPA & PHALKOR MONASTERY.
Overnight at hotel.
DAY 07 GYANTSE - LHASA (3,650M): 261 KM
Full day picturesque drive via XIGATSE along the BRAHMAPUTRA RIVER
(because the road from GYANTSE to LHASA via KAROLA (5,010M), KAMBALA
(4,794M), colourful YAMDROK LAKE is closed because of the currently
going on road repair work) - Overnight at hotel.
DAY 08 IN LHASA
AM: Visit POTALA PALACE. PM: Visit JOKHANG TEMPLE, BARKHOR BAZAAR -
Overnight at hotel.
DAY 09 IN LHASA
Visit DREPUNG MONASTERY. PM: Visit SERA MONASTERY - Overnight at hotel.
Day 10: LHASA -to kathmandu by trans Himalayan flight ( 60 minute) or onward Your destination.
