Hello,
looking for info for Annapurna Ciruit in May. Will it be a problem with the Monsoon approaching or is the time okay? I know the trekking season ends in May but what if it starts early, can it get dangerous? Never been to Nepal in Spring. When it rains, does it usually rain for a few hours a day or constantly?
Thanks!

I don't think you will have much of a problem in May unless you go at the end of may and stay into June. I did a monsoon trek last year in August and the rain wasn't that bad. It would usually start raining around 2 or 3pm and rain all night. Rarely did it rain while I was on my way to the next location. The views are not the best, you are really gambling to see anything. I was lucky to get a great day when I reached Gorak Shep. But the three days before and the three days after were not good at all so it was really luck. But you have to go when you can go. I was even thinking of trying to go at the end of May this year when I finish classes.

Hi,
Thanks for the info. I know that fall is definetly the better time to trek. I did the EBC a few years ago at that time and the weather was perfect and the views just stunning. I know that spring is not the best time for the views but I just love trekking and everything with it, so I can deal with it. Just don't want to get rained on for hours and hours.
Have fun on your travels.

May is a splendid time. You will have spring in high places such as Braga and Manang and Jomosom. In lower areas, e.g., Pokhara it can be rather hot.

No, though if you have a bad monsoon storm you have to watch out for swollen tributaries and land slides.

Most often there is a drizzle in the late afternoon. It really depends on a lot of meterological factors: sometimes the weather can be really ok during the monsson, sometimes you get occasional heavy torrential rain that can go on ceaslessly for a day or two.
In any case it usually does not come until June and rarely gets heavy before July.
