just back from trek in langtang valley. had read maoists were collecting on the road between KTM and syabru besi as late as last fall (nov 2006). but my trek in march 2007 had no collection! and if I could tell correctly, looked like we bussed past a maoist post that was closed up.
although the maoists are failing on so many other promises to the nepali people, maybe at least their rally to 'promote industry and tourism' will be good for us tourists.
