A good sleeping bag is extremely useful anywhere above 3000m, and especially if you plan to sleep at MBC and ABC. Similarly, a down jacket would be useful when you stop at those altitudes, say for admiring the secenry first thing in the morning at ABC, as it will be below 0. You can hire them in Thamel or Pokhara if you wish, or buy cheaper copies. They will do at least for one trek...
Otherwise, the usual stuff for trekking, like polypropilene underwear (good to sleep in too), pile jacket, gore-tex jacket, if you can afford it.

Regarding the price I would say $15US would probalby siffice on trek if you are frugal, but I would budget for 20. That Fanta, Coke or Mars bar that you abhore at sea-level, will suddenly look very appealing when trudging up towards MBC. You get tempted. And as Oscar Wilde so eloquently said: "I can resist everything, but temptation..."
