My wife and I are planning to trek the Annapurna Sanctuary early November. Can anyone recommend a guide /porter?What is the daily rate? What is the current daily cost for transport to trek, park entry fee, lodges and food? What other expenses are there?
Thank you for the information.

I seem to be monopolising this site, only cause I am keen and love Nepal where I have a home.If you want to be a little more specific please get back. There is no price in Nepal sometimes Christmas has come very early for Nepalis(Dashian for them)often like most of us they struggle,I get concerned either way they have to endure our funny ways but that is probably my Western upbringing.Best you get back if you want with a little more of your concerns.
The costs trekking alone depend on Area altitude and road availability.i.e the more difficult it is to shift stuff to the region the more expensive it is.If you want to keep costs down eat the local food which is normally grown on site.Bed charges are set by Local lodge/area commitees generally ....higher you go the more you pay which should also apply to porters etc.I think if you work on betwwen 10/15$ a day for going quite high with the odd low altitude beer you will live well.
Regards Nick.
Hope this helps.

Trecking in Nepal is amazing cheep. But as soon that you pass the last village of Chomrong, prices are going up pretty fast, wich is normal, as everything has to be carried by men an no firewood is allowed anymore. Nick said about 10-15 $ a day, just take some other 10 $ a day (total 20-25) with You. you dont have to spent them, but its nice to have some extra money when youl suddently like to have an other beer. I had met quite a few people, who had been running out of money. A porterguide would charge around 8-10 $. you can contact them easili in your hotel in Pokhara. Be aware that they will have to give the differece between nepali wages and what you are paying to the lodge-owner, and that for every day! So bargain very hard in the lodge, tell I´m noit paying more than 4-5 $ (including food) and give the rest a the end of the trek as tip. Like this the man who was working very hard gets at least some of the money.
For trecking in the annapurna area you need a permit (~35$)from ACAP. Since august you can´t get it anymore in pokhara. You have to take in Kathmandu / Thamel.
Have a nice trekking in Nepal! Andrées (www.nepal-dia.de)
