I have worked in Nepal and have a base there. There are many good people offering good services,we are one of these,I also believe I am the only U.K. operator working hands on,i.e.I have overall say on where the money goes, some treat local staff in very bad ways(I can understand very clearly why there are political problems in Nepal at present). If you want to get in contact without obligation please do.Check the web page on (www.himalayastudy.co.uk)14 years of working together with people who care.

Regards Nick.

The Lonely Planet Nepal & Trekking in Nepal books both have lists of companies their readers recommended.

The Trailblazer books, on the other hand, only list bif overseas companies that produce glossy brochures.

Hi David.
Probably you will start the first time in Nepal with one of the usual treks: annapurna, langtang or everest area. For none of these treks you need trealy he help of a trekking agencie, as there are plenty of good lodges al along the trail. I just write this, because i have meet in the past quite a few people, who where upset when they realised, that they could easily gone by themself but now traveling with porters, a kitchen crew, an unnecessary guide .... and this for a lot of money. To be clear, I also met lots of people who where perfecly happy travelling with a company. If you mail me your plans maybe I could give you a better anwer.
