Flight options from BKK to KTM

What airlines fly from Bangkok other than Thai Airways? I just checked and the cost is much more than I thought it would be (23585 Baht return). Any recommendations on travel agents? Is flying from a neighboring country a better option? Does Nepal immigration require a return ticket? Is it better to buy the return ticket in Kathmandu thus saving any penalties for changing the date?

Beware of Royal Nepal. Reconfirm reconfirm reconfirm and check the day before for announcement of delays.

They have a shortage of planes and all flights are delayed anywhere from an hour to 2-3 days.

Be patient - they will get you to Nepal eventually.
