Do you think lady goes trekking alone in Nepal will be a problem?
And If I got only 5 to 7 days for trekking, which routes will be suitable?

Ruby -- I am a 32 year old woman and also planning on travelling in Nepal by myself. I am also looking to do a 8-10 day trek. When are you going?

It is not advisable to trek alone. One reason is if you sprain your ankle or fall off the trail, there will be nobody around to look for you.
Find a companion in Kathmandu or hire a guide for about $5 a day and you can learn some Nepali from them. There is a trekking company (Chetri Sisters in Pokhara) that specialises in providing female guides for female trekkers.
Have fun

Hi
I am in Delhi and plan to trek somewher in Nepal or India himalayas. I am also thinking of going on Motor bike (Royal Enfield) to Jaiselmer (Rajasthan) camel fare. I am quite flexible in my plans. Do let me know if we can plan something together. More later. Best wishes. My email is rahulegal@yahoo.com

Langtang/ helambu is a place to start for a shorter trek It is also a very beautiful area and a chance to get a sense of trekking. I have trekked solo with a guide and porter. Even though I carry loads of 50 lbs in unsupported backbacking trips at home , it is a different story at altitude. With a guide you will learn much more about the mountains, people and their culture. I have become good friends with my guides and their families. That is the case for most people who have guides. There are links on this site or trekkers here who have made multiple trip and can help you find a guide rather than booking through a company. This way the guide and porter are failry paid and taken care of rather thean the company in Kathmandu keeping the bulk of the fees you paid. I have been to Nepal 4 times now. Langtang/ Gosaikunda, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and Gokyo/ Cho la/ EBc. When accepting peoples advice always find out if and when they visited Nepal. You never know with the internet...

Sharon,
Could you give me an email address for the guides you used. I need one for early April. Also, if you hire a guide and a porter how much would this cost? Does the porter come automatically with the guide?
Many thanks
Katinka

Lang Tang is fine for a couple of days or more expensive and more crowded is the Jomsom trek (Jomsom to Muktinath and back to Jomsom). I would not recommend to travel alone. You feel bad and with nobody around you could have a serious problem. There will be lots of people going the same way. Find the company and go for it
