Hello Folks,
I'm a professional western guide working in Nepal, with a Nepali trekking agency. As of this fall I found that many independant trekkers were coming to Nepal wondering how to get the new TRC permit. Many tourists had no idea that there was a new TRC program and felt deceived once they found out. This left tourists wondering how to go about choosing a trekking agency that would pay a fare wage to the guide/porter and still allow the trekker to feel free from the hassle involved with more paperwork and time.
I wondered if my staff could benefit from the TRC program by allowing them to work with tourists longer into the trekking season. This seemed like a, win, win for everyone.
So I decided to set up a program with my office in Kathmandu to charge a simple daily office fee, per person, for arranging all the necessary permits, staff life insurance, park permits and TRC permit. Our office would also arrange for one of our well trained guides or porters to meet trekkers in Lukla, or in the Annapurna area, so that both could benefit from the TRC program. This would make the process of arranging things very easy, also allowing my guys to make some money.
I WILL TAKE NO MONEY FROM THIS PROGRAM! I'm adding this statement because I don't want anyone thinking I'm just husseling you for myself, no I actually care about the guys that work hard for me when I have clients.
With our service you're told all the fees up front. You pay the guide/porter yourself, so you know they're getting the entire wage, instead of the trekking agency. During the trek you pay your own lodging and meals, allowing you to keep costs down and don't spend money on food you might not eat.
We can also arrange flights, buses and can suggest a hotel in Kathmandu. We do not get any kick-backs, but do this as part of our service.
So if you're NOT interested in going from trekking office to office in Thamel looking for an agency to work with, you can call Don in Kathmandu at: 4437260, or e-mail me at becky@adventuroustrekker.com.
