One of my friends from Germany had to pay a 1000 nrs on the way from Kutumsang to Tharepati last August. Not negotialbe, just pay and ask for a receipt. Probably those guys didn't know what happened down there in Ktm valley last April!

You only have to read Nepal news every day to see that the maoists have not stopped any of their dirty tricks. Hotels have threatened closure against extortion and unionization by the maoists. Now the banks have said they will shut if they recieve more extortion threats. No doubt, behind the scenes, they are getting ready for the day when the government finally says that they cannot meet all of the maoists demands for a new Nepal. This is despite the fact that they constantly use terms like "peace and democracy" and Prachanda says donations are voluntary. There is no democracy in a maoist state. The people of Nepal need to realise the danger posed by the maoists and to rise up against them before it's too late.
