Hello trekkers,

On 24 of October I will be landing again in Nepal and blowing some steam of in the capital before going on trekking.
My younger "sister" from Nepal and me are looking for trekking companions for a short trek into Helambu. We are planning to depart from Kathmandu on 4 November, starting from Sundaryal (north of Kathmandu valley).
Maximum duration of this trip 11 days Gosainkunda lakes are included in this trip.
Itinerary :
day 1. Kathmandu-Sundaryal-Chisopani approx. 4-4½ hours
day 2. Chisopani - Kutumsang 4½-5 hours
day 3. Kutumsang - Tharepathi 4½-5 hours
day 4 Tharepati - Phedi 4½-5 hours (altitude 3960 mtr)
day 5 Phedi-Laurebinak-Gosainkunda 4½ - 5 hours (altitude 4300 mtr)
day 6 Gosainkunda visit and side trips to higher viewpoint (approx. 5000 mtr)
day 7 Gosainkunda to Tharepati 6-7 hours
day 8. Tharepati - Tharkegyang 4 - 4½ hours
day 9. Tharkegyang - Sermathang - Talamarang. 4½ - 5 hours
day 10. Talamarang - Pati Bhanjang - Mulkarka 5 - 6 hours
day 11. Mulkarka - Sundaryal - Ktm 2 hours max.
We will probably have one porter/guide to carry some stuff for us like sleeping bag for the higher places.
This tour is crossing cultivated fields and big forests along a ridge heading toward Tharepati. On the way villages mainly with Tamang and Sherpa population. Tourism is at a low level, probably will not meet up with to many other people than only the locals.
Prices of food and lodging at a fair level, compared with lower regions in Annapurna.
Permit for the Shivapuri nat. park Nrs. 250 and Nrs 1000 for the Helambu/Langtang region.

Good trip to prepare yourself for a tour in Everest or Annapurna round.

Looking for male and female companions (age not important for us).
Possible you split up after visiting Gosainkunda, if you like to continue to Langtang. We prefer to descent the Helambu side.
Hope you'll be interested in sharing (part of) our trekking.

Cheers,

Harry and Rachana

Hi,

Does anybody know if it is possible to walk from Melamchi Pul Bazaar to Nagarkot. This instead of going back from Pati Bhanjang to Sundaryal. From Sermathang we will follow the trail down to Mel.pul Bazaar.
Walking hours and route to follow from Mel.pul Bazaar? Seems to us a nice finish on this trip, but no details are available in any guidebook. Ofcourse, will find our way, but pre information is welcome.
Thanx,

Harry & Rachana

Hi

There would appear to be a road or track from Melamchi Pul Bazaar to Nagarkot so it might not be worth walking. Depends on how busy it is. If it is just a track it might be okay. I don't think it's a tourist route and under TRC provisions it might not be allowed?

As far I know there is a kind of road crossing from chisopani in the direction of the mainroad but not crossing directly to Nagarkot for Melamchi Pul Bazaar.. Been several times in Nagarkot, but didn't see any dustroad or so. And the story about TRC.......means you even can't walk in the valley?
heru ke hunccha! Waling around with a Nepali solves that problem!
Seems TRC is something like a flue? Let's just wait and see what is going to happen, before we scare peole staying away because of the terrible TRC sickness!
