Some years ago, I went up with my porter into Helambu. Starting from Sundaryal to Chiso Pani. Next day we had a hard walk to Kutumsang and headed next day to Tharapati. Because the road was blocked due a landslide on the Ramche side, just before Dunche, I asked my guide/porter where to go to. So next day we went down from Tharepati to Melamche and from there to Tharkegyang. Long walk down through the jungle, but one of the best I ever had. From tharkegyang we went over the ridge to Serpathang, had a lunch and down to Kakani. From this point you can choose to go to Melamche Pull bazaar or walk toward Pati Bhanjang and back to Sundaryal again. Total time about 6 to 7 days and enjoying the landlife between the friendly Tamang community! Costs for the Shivapuri 250 nrs and another 1000 for the permit for Langtang. Lodges and food for a reasonalble price.
