I was wondering if there is snow at that time of year on the way to everest base camp and Gokyo? Would I need to get a pair of crampons to fit under my hiking boots? Snowshoes? or are the trail usually pretty clear?

Thanks

Whilst there is a possibility of snow, the trail is very well trodden so there is no need for crampons or snowshoes. There will be a lot of people/yaks heading up and down at that time of year who will break a trail for you, just sit and have an extra cup of tea if it snows and let someone else go out first.

If going down from Dole to Porthse Tengi, and snowfall has been, this part is allways a little tricky, be aware of that. Ice covered with dust, but still you can slide down.
Crampons on crossing Cho La, you don't need them, only the gully before coming to the glacier is sometimes filled with some ice.
Take care.
