My geography isn't great at the best of times but I need you to clear something up for me...A friend of mine says she is going trekking in the Himalayas in cambodia. I don't think the Himalayas are anywhere near Cambodia but she's determined she's right...

Can anyone settle the argument please? :-)

Thanks!

Yes she is most definitely wrong!

Here you can see the himalayan chain running along the southern edge of the Tibetan plain and Cambodia at the bottom centre of the picture.

Cambodia's highest mountain is 1813m high and there are two mountain ranges, one in the north and one in the south. Perhaps your friend is visiting one of those ranges or perhaps a completely different country! Could well be with this standard of geographical knowledge! ;)

She won't read the links but thanks for trying!

I guess she'll find out when she gets there :)

hm..These sites might explain why she insist on trekking in the himalayan in cambodia. Even the geologists regards Mekong as one to those circum-Himalayan rivers. And Mekong runs through part of Camboia.

Escher. You’re very exclusionist aren’t you? New Zealand has its Alps. Why can't Cambodia have its Himalayas if it wants to? Lord knows, I’ve spent enough time hiking in the Scottish Himalayas.
