Bumped into the Maoists between Tatopani and Ghorepani (just past Chimre) on the ACT (around 11th April). Just one guy with a baseball cap, an FM radio and allegedly a gun however it wasn't produced. When I happened upon him he was already in discussion with a Swedish guy who was questioning his authenticity as a Maoist. Spotting an opportunity to evade payment I chipped in with the same line and directed him to my guide who was somewhere further down the line. Eventually he relented and let us through, however later on he caught up with my wife and guide (at Sikah)and we ended up "donating" 1200NRPS each. There was no negotiation, just a flat fee regardless of the number of days.
Apparantley we should have been asked to donate at Chamje but due to an "administrative error" the Maoists ran out of receipts therefore didn't approach us!
