Hi

I want to do Everest Base Camp with a friend, hopefully in 2006.

What is the shortest possible time frame to complete a trek to EBC in? We wish to trek to the base (not fly to it) but where would be a good starting point which would maximise the experience?

Thanks....in anticipation.

Hi Gerard,

Your question doesn't quite make sense, sorry. Asking "what is the shortest time" is an anathema, please think in terms of "how long should we take?". There are two very good reasons for this - firstly there is the fact that altitude acclimatisation to altitude takes time and ignoring this can be dangerous. Furthermore trekking is most rewarding (and comfortable) at a reasonably sedate pace.

If you don't want to fly then you should start the trek at Jiri. But if you have limited time then you could fly to Lukla, which is a few days up the trail.

Perhaps you should research a few itineraries for the trek and pay attention to the 'rest days' - they are recommended rather than suggested.

I hope this help

Oli
