I warmly recommend Santaman as a trekking guide for those of you who want professional, personal yet unobtrusive, service.
I have employed Santa four times now, and recommended him to many other trekkers who'be been unreserved in their praise.
He is professional and friendly at the same time, knowledgeable on Nepal and it's past and present. He's very intuitive, and will mind his own business if you so wish, but will be uncompromising on safety issues (I had occasion to witness his quick and decisive decision making and action in a dire situation...).
He works with a good and constant bunch of porters. And this is probably because he treats them well.
