The Political Situation
There are some fears about the country's political instability. However, the Maoists have stated that they will not target tourists and have welcomed them to come. Normally when coming across some Maoists a 'donation' is asked of about 500-1000 rupees ( 5-10 US$). No tourists have been injured from Maoists..

anyone has got news from the current developments reg. safety/instability in Nepal since the maoist cease-fire was announced last week? So far, I have only seen that there are daily demonstrations in KTM from the political parties the King overruled last February, and the maoists have threaten to cancel the cease-fire since the RNA seems to be attacking some of their sites...

Have got a reserved plane ticket for late October...but still not sure the trip is worth the (possible) hassle...

any opinions welcome. Thanks

Although I am not there I guess that everything is all right. I regret that my trip in the begining of February was canceled due to my stupidity. Emotions took over the reality. I would not hesitate too much, just go for it. However if you want to know details about the situation get in touch with hotels or guide friends...

Rakshi :)
