Trek and volunteer work

I am going to do some voluntary work in Nepal and then a trek. I can't decide which way round to do this! I am worried about getting ill in Kathmandu before the trek. Should I trek first, but then will probably be knackered for placement ohh what a dilemma!! Any suggestions appreciated.

Trek first! You will know so much more about the country and its people
after some weeks in the countryside.

Unless of course if you fly to Lukla and go to Kalapattar and back with a
guide. Then you will just know more about California and what the guide
has told you.

If you go first volenteer
you will know more information and easy to deal with every thing. some culture and system in local areas. so choose first volenteer and trek next
