Independent Trekking ?

I just read about the TRC banning all solo trekking, you must go with an official group or hire a guide. No more turning up getting your penmit and heading off. Does anybody know any more about this apparently impending doom?

The TRC was abolished about four years ago, it's fine to trek independently in the popular areas.

No. You can go your own but you've to be TIMS and National park/conservation permit before heading to trekking.
