I’m planning to trek for 22 days in Khumbu and I’d like to go to Gokyo and EBC (very very original idea)
Considering that I’m not very fit =( (and that I don’t like to rush) I need your advice for a trekking route in that area.

1. Luckla - Phakding (is there any good reason to stop in Phakding instead of reaching Monjo?)
2. Phakding - Namche
3. Namche - Thamo - Namche (any good reason to spend the rest day in Namche instead of Khumjung? I liked Khumjung much more...)
4. Namche - Khumjung
5. Khumjung -Tengboche
6. Tengboche- Dingboche
7. Dingboche - ? - Dingboche
8. Dingboche- Dughla
9. Dughla - Labuche
10.Labuche - Gorakshep
11. Gorakshep- Kala Patthar - Gorakshep
12. Gorak Shep - EBC- Gorak Shep

Now I have a problem. I don’t think I am fit enough to climb Cho La, but still I’d love to go to Gokyo. Can you please suggest an alternative itinerary?

THANKS!!!!!!

We went Duglha-Pangboche-Phortse and further to Gokyo (but it's possible to go Ghorakshep-Dingboche/Pangboche in one day). It's not bad to go down after Ghorakshep to rest a bit, and walk Pangboche-Phortse is great, very scenic.

1. Luckla - Phakding (is there any good reason to stop in Phakding instead of reaching Monjo?)
it will depend on your feeling
2. Phakding - Namche
3. Namche - Thamo - Namche (any good reason to spend the rest day in Namche instead of Khumjung? I liked Khumjung much more...)
once more, if you feel well go to Khumjung for night. (excellent views from hill near luxury hotel)
4. Namche - Khumjung
5. Khumjung -Tengboche
you can go to Pangoche, especially from Khumjung
6. Tengboche- Dingboche
7. Dingboche - ? - Dingboche
go to Chukhung or up by ridge above Dingboche
8. Dingboche- Dughla
9. Dughla - Labuche
10.Labuche - Gorakshep
Kala Pattar would be even better in evening than morning
11. Gorakshep- Kala Patthar - Gorakshep
12. Gorak Shep - EBC- Gorak Shep

Easy:

day 3: Namche-Thame
day 4: Thame-Khumjung
***********
day 10: Lobuche-Gorak Shep-Kala Pattar-Gorak Shep
day 11: Gorak Shep- Phortse (or somewhere, like Pangpoche, add one day somewhere)
day 12: Phortse-Na
day 13: Na-Gokyo
day 14: Gokyo Ri, hike upvalley
day 15: Gokyo-Mong La
day 16: Mong-Namche

I have done Cho La once and the Phortse walkaround twice. From Phortse follow the east side of the valley to Na, nice and more original (no lodges, just yakhouse teahouses).

If you have 22 days how about walking in form Jiri? I have done Jiri-EBC-Gokyo-Lukla twice in 23 days.

Thanks to both of you!
:)

Petrus, I sincerely don't think I can do it all in 22 days!
As I said I'm not very fit and I prefer taking it easy.

If you have 22 days time for Lukla-Gokyo-Chola paas-EBC and via to Lukla it is more then enough, you can do it easily.

1. Luckla - Phakding (is there any good reason to stop in Phakding instead of reaching Monjo?)
Phakding is batter place to stop then Manjo for your first day hiking and also after lunch you do site walk next to the Dhud Kosi river.

2. Phakding - Namche
3. Namche - Thamo - Namche (any good reason to spend the rest day in Namche instead of Khumjung? I liked Khumjung much more...)

There is no point to spend your rest day in Namche if you don't have any shopping, you batter to go Khumjung.

I have done this trip many time so if you have more question about this trip write me line in my privet email
