Hi again:

I'm still planning on doing my version of the 3 passes trek starting some time in Nov. 2011. I'd like to avoid the big crowds if possible, however I'm a bit leery about flying back home in December after hearing about the mess at Heathrow, and then at the NE US airports last month.

When do the crowds tend to start thinning out in the fall EBC season?

Thanks,

Kay

Hi Kay

I started from Jiri November 21st 2010. The last of those walking out of Lulka because of the week long flight delays there (was said 2000 trekkers were stranded in Lulka at that time ) were just reaching the Bandar/Jiri area. I went into Lulka 27th and the crowds were gone. Similarly by end of November all crowds had left the Khumbu area. I had absolutely fine and crystal clear weather. I have had similar at that time of the year on previous treks. So i would say you have to leave it till late November to avoid the huge numbers.
