Hello, I'm new. I've recently done the EBC Trek and whilst in Nepal had no end of problems using my mobile. I'm with Vodafone and when I tried to make voice calls found that they were barred. I'm now having an argument with Vodafone.
Is there anyone here who is with Vodafone and who has used their mobile with (too many) problems in Nepal?
Thanks

Happy to hear that!
I am not sure which is worst; the roads, the idiot tour groups in lodges,
or some doofus on a cell phone out in the Himalayas.

Yes, I think that more remote treks will be the answer for people who want to trek "like in the old days" without the bane of mobile phones, iPads etc.
And that would last for a few years, after which mobile phones will invade them too... I imagine an army of mobile phones of all brands, shapes and sizes plotting on how to invade the Himalayas... And the easiest way to do it would be with the use of the "doofus" (what a lovely word!) tour groups, as they are the most brain-vulnerable, having to keep in touch (mostly) with their cat therapist in case the damn thing decides to step in front of a car and end their crappy cat existance, before their owners return from their amazing trek in the Himalayas. Either that, or having to keep in touch to their obsessive spouses, dementia-hit parents, or maybe its just talk dirty at $ 3.95/minute.
