Namche to EBC daily budget.

Hi,

It's been a few years since my last trek and would like some info on tea house prices and food ect..

Has anyone done the route above Namche to EBC and Gokyo recently..??

I will be walking in from Phaplu to both these places and some prices on Lodges and basic food stuffs and drinks would be helpful if anyone has any info...

I'm trekking independantly and thinking about my daily budget for approximately 20 days trekking.

$20-25/day on the average. Depends a lot on many things like apetite, how much beer is consumed, yak steak every day, want to sleep in the newfangled $25 hotels maybe? Some might get by with less, easy to spend more.

I concur with Petrus. I did Gokyo last time in Jan 08 and spend towards 25/day splashing out a bit. But even if you are very thrifty and don't buy many cokes, or beer, or mars bars, etc - I don't think you'd get much change out of 20 USD/day/person these days. In fact for the days spent above Namche, allow for a bit more, as everything is a bit more expensive as you move up.

Yesterday I've found the bill from Eco Lodge in Lobuche from Oct 19th 2009.
Here are my expenses (acc., lunch, dinner and breakfast):
- room - 1500 NPR
- lemon tea - 60 NPR
- black tea - 55 NPR
- fresh coffee - 110 NPR
- mushroom soup - 170 NPR
- chicken momos - 420 NPR
- chicken cordon bleu - 680 NPR :eek:
- apple pie - 295 NPR
- hot orange/lemon - 55 NPR
- veg omelet - 250 NPR
- toast - 90 NPR

Well, I've gone crazy, but the food was the best on whole trek. In other places I've spent less money.

Wow... that seems a lot more than I remember...
Mind you I have never done EBC side before, but have been to Gokyo 3 times now and dont remember it being so expensive...
