I hadn't realised that the floods in Pakistan had also devastated Ladakh. Leh was badly hit with many killed and missing. The media has concentrated on the larger scale crisis in Pakistan and Ladakh has not really been mentioned.
I have happy memories of my stay in the Poplar Eco Hotel in Leh, is it still standing, I wonder?
Anyway, for those interested a full report here on the KE site and a way of donating money that is targeted specifically to relief in Ladakh.

We were in Leh two weeks ago and have since trekked from Rumtse to Kibber, Spiti. Am now in Manali heading for Delhi but will write a full report when we get back to the UK. Ther is devastation in Leh where the flood came down the valley and through the bus park. Life in the main town is very much as it was. However, that is not as bad as in Chomlingsar, the next village along the road where there is considerable destruction. The mud/rock mess that swept into the village has left deposits up to 2 metres high which have now set solid. However, on the whole of our trek, we saw washouts where huge quantities of rock and silt have been washed down to the valleys from mountain sides. In some cases, completely new ridges have been formed. Nowhere seems to have been unaffected.

Great to hear that you have completed the trek. Please let me know what the Parang la crossing was like as I plan to trek Kibber to Tso Moriri next year.
