I am planning to do the EBC trek in early May around 9th May - 25th May. Please advice if May still falls under trekking season and visibilty in particular.

Would like companions of similar intrest.

Thanks

Every year is slightly different. Last year I was trekking in May for the first two weeks. The monsoon arrived early according to my guides. We had nice views pretty much every morning. By noon it would cloud in and some days we had a thunder shower. On one day the shower lasted from 2 in the afternoon through 10 pm. Most days though it was a nice sunset. It is still trekking seasn and I'm sure you will havea wonderful experience!

Thanks Sharon

Hope this year the monsoon arrives late :-) I have to buy some Ponchos. Did the same trek in Oct 2002. Could go only till Tyangboche. Now want to complete the EBC.

Hi Suresh

I did the EBC trek in May 2004 and it was great. The weather does get a bit cloudy in the afternoons but the morning views were usually phenomenal. You will see lots of Yak trains with mountaineering gear heading to and fro from the various base camps.

May is a very good month to go since the trails and lodges are quiet. If I did the EBC trek again I would certainly plan to go in May or the Autumn equivalent. Enjoy !

Last year in beginn of may I had many days with a good view in the morning and even some in the afternoon . But often around midday clouds came and we were in an unplesant cold and windy fog. For this reason we stopped sometimes to trek already around 3 o clock.
Have a large Umbrella with you! You will see that all Nepalease, includingd the porters, have one. When you have to climg a step uphill in rain, a poncho with a hood may well protect you from the outher rain but you will be completely wet from you inside sweat.
With an umbrella you will feel much more confortable.
Have a nice trek
