Hi,

I'm planning on another trek this coming October walking to Gokyo starting from Phaplu.

My trekking partner has limited time and I'm wondering if this trek is possible in 10 or 11 days as we may have to re-think it and fly into Lukla instead...!!

Can anyone suggest an itenerary from Phaplu to Gokyo back to Lukla in quick time..??

Thanks in advance.

Ricky.

I've done Lukla-Gokyo-Lukla in 10 days but I acclimatise well. It is possible but does not allow for poor weather, illness or poor acclimatisation. You will just have to see how you get on. You can go high really quick up to Gokyo and get into difficulties. It isn't worth the risk in my opinion to skip stages unless you know that both of you acclimatise well.

I do not think it is safely possible without pre-acclimatization. At the normal safe speed it would take 9 days to get to Gokyo from Phaplu. Phaplu - Namche stretch (4 days: Nuntala-Bupsa-Surkie-Namche) does not advance acclimatization much, just one pass over 3000m along the way.

Thanks for your input guys..

My friend has just informed me he has managed to get another 2 work days off so this will now give him 16 days total from leaving the UK to arriving back to the UK.. so with some good planning and booking of flight tickets in advance we could probably have 13 or 14 trekking days...!!

This would make a big difference dont you think...?

Do you have a suggested itinerary you could post up for me..?

Thanks again.
