Hi
I'm flying from Vienna over Moscow to New Delhi airport by Aeroflot and from here India airlines to KTM. I suppose in Wien they wonŽt check-in my luggage as far as KTM. So IŽll have to pick them up in Delhi, which means going through passport control. Is need to dispatch luggage transit visa in New Delhi airport? Officers at Indian embassy are unable (or not willing) to help me ...

But theoretically you don't need one. Do NOT check your bags all the way through. They will do it in Wien, but they may not make the connectiin in Delhi.

When you arrive in Delhi, go into the transit lounge, not to immigration. Keep asking for the person from the airline you are flying to Kathmandu with. They usually don't show up till a few hours before the flight, so you may have to wait. Give your ticket and bagage tags and ask to check in. They can go down and get the bag for you - or sometimes they take you along with them.

It's not straightforward at all and keeps changing. Delhi transit is a lousy place - nothing to do. If you have a visa, you can go out, get the bag, eat something in the nearby Radisson hotel and then go back to check in - you'll probably arrive about midnight and most Nepal flights leave after 8 or 9.

Best is Jet airways.
