Magic Yeti Library, that is. The new community library in the Phortse Community Center is now complete . Thank you to all on this site who helped me prepare for my Nepal trip to Phortse. Excellent invaluable advice!
Please: When trekking to EBC or Gokyo take the short trip to Phortse!
Excellent village with good lodges--and please stop in to the library! The village and the kids are ecstatic over their new library. Check out the Magic Yeti Library project on alexlowe.org. A project which helps kids and adults begin the road to education and ultimately a richer life.
Thanks again,
Pete O.

And if someone was to go there and was thinking of donating a book, what
language should that be in?

Hello Lars,
Short answer to that question is English or Nepali. The kids in the Khumbu region schools are somewhat tri-lingual, from what I understand: their own Sherpa language, Nepali, and English. The Magic Yeti Library can be found on alexlowe.org where this language question is addressed more in depth.
As I understand, Magic Yeti will be focusing on monetary donations in the near future to purchase Nepali language books.
Thank you for your interest,
Peter Olander

I've posted a few pictures of the Phortse Library opening on flickr.com (search magic yeti, peter.olander). They're kind of a hodge-podge at the moment but will be ordered and labeled shortly.
